How To Get Affordable Health Insurance For Kids
If you’re looking for affordable health insurance for your kids, look no further. The National Association of Social Workers may have just the solutions you’re looking for.
According to the National Association of Social Workers, too many kids are left without proper health insurance because their parents either don’t know about the options out there for their kids or they believe that purchasing health insurance for their kids will be too expensive. However, to date “a new nationwide health insurance program is beginning,” which means families who work, but still can’t afford adequate and affordable health insurance for their kids, will be able to get health insurance for free or at a low cost.
Also to date, a Children’s Health Insurance Program is being designed in each State throughout America to help make health insurance for kids even more affordable; this is also thanks to the National Association of Social Workers. For the time being, most children from low income families qualify for Medicaid for free.
Obviously the National Association of Social Workers has been hard at work making sure your kids can get the affordable health insurance they need. Remember, just because you aren’t able to find work that offers health insurance benefits for you or your children doesn’t mean you are failing your children in anyway. You just have to take those extra steps to find out what’s out there for your kids and how you can obtain it for them.
If you are having a difficult time getting your kids the adequate and affordable health insurance they need, you are not alone, and the National Association of Social Workers is working to make sure you, and no one else, has to be in these situations again.

First off, Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. One state couldn’t find any doctors in that state that took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2006/11/22/74554.htm for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards.
Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.
Second, you're probably not going to be able to get on an individual insurance policy. You are unemployed so the only thing available will be a short term medical. Short term medical policies do not cover pre-existing conditions. Even if you were employed most policies will not cover pre-existing conditions and many will not accept you based on the total of your conditions. You may want to visit a local independent agent. This person knows the plans available in your area and can find out if any plan will take you.
Third, you should still check on Medicaid. You don't have to have kids to be accepted for Medicaid. Depending upon what state you are in there are income and asset requirements. Google Medicaid and your state and you'll find their website. On the website will be information on how to qualify and how to apply. Don't let any hospital social worker tell you that you can't get on without trying for yourself.

A lot will depend on where you live because different states have different programs for children.
As long as your son is under the age of 18 then most states and even some counties will have some form of program that you will be able to look into.
If you make too much money to qualify for a government program then your best bet is probably individual health insurance for your son. As long as he is relatively healthy then it should be no problem at all finding a cheap plan.
Be sure that you shop around and compare quotes from at least 3-5 different reputable companies. Enlist the help of an independent health insurance agent or broker so that they can help you comparison shop.Try this site

Because they seem to be unaware of just how much a problem health coverage is for most Americans. It is a shame they seem to lie about the plans Obama has to change things.
First of all, Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. And change the system so that it is cheaper, and also so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Holland and Switzerland where private companies are involved in providing insurance.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

You forget that Obama plans on rolling back Bush's tax cuts for ALL AMERICANS. It's a small yet IMPORTANT detail. **snicker**

To sagrzmnky and other haters: He used multiple pens because they’re given away as gifts to the people who had some part in getting the law passed. It’s a tradition.

No I don't want to see her as VP.
She has shown that she is not qualified to hold such high office.
A failure as mayor of her small town,flip-flops (bridge to nowhere).
Now her refusal to talk to the investigation into her possible abuse of power sounds as if she has something to hide.
On a personal note,I don't like the fact that she likes to kill animals purely for sport.

Definition of mentally ill….. Using a different pen for every letter of your name. What is that? I have never heard of that. I just looked up a bill the Pres. Bush signed and there was one pen on the bill and he signed his whole name with it. Yet, you people think Bush was screwed in the head.
